Public holidays deducted
Holidays unavailableThe public holiday calendar could not be reached, so only weekends and your own deductions were removed. Check the period against the Kenya Gazette.
Computed on the dates entered. Kenyan public holidays falling on a Sunday are observed on the Monday. Indicative only: this is not legal advice, and contract terms, shift patterns and the Employment Act may change what is payable.

For employers
Mutual separation agreement & redundancy procedure audit
Miscalculated working days are a common source of claims at the Employment and Labour Relations Court. Accrued, unused leave must be paid at the correct daily rate on termination, and a redundancy needs the statutory notices in the right order.
Know the rules
What the number is used for.
How much annual leave is an employee entitled to?
The Employment Act, 2007 provides for at least 21 working days of annual leave with full pay after every twelve consecutive months of service. A contract may give more, never less.
Is unused leave paid when employment ends?
Accrued leave that has not been taken is ordinarily paid as part of final dues. The working days count is what converts that entitlement into an amount.
How is severance on redundancy worked out?
The statutory minimum is severance pay at the rate of not less than fifteen days’ pay for each completed year of service, alongside notice, accrued leave and the procedure the Act requires. The facts decide the final figure, so take advice before paying or signing.
Why deduct public holidays?
Public holidays are paid rest days, not working days, so counting them inflates the period. Holidays that fall on a Sunday are observed on the following Monday.
